Alexander Ehrath started programming games at age 12 (on the TI-99/4A). Starting in the 1990s, he worked on a string of titles for systems ranging from the Atari Lynx to the Sega Saturn. He joined Angel Studios to assist with the port of Resident Evil 2 to the Nintendo 64, and then went on to do programming and engineering on many more projects.
In the interview, he tells us about:
How he came to be credited as “The Man” in Resident Evil 2 for Nintendo 64.
His work on an unreleased Saturn edutainment title called Pyramid.
Various other projects that he contributed to that never saw an actual release.
Why the water effects in TransWorld Surf are so good on every platform.
…and much more.
There’s a release that goes along with this episode! Check out:
Pyramid: Challenge of the Pharaoh’s Dream (Mar 26, 1997 prototype) at Hidden Palace.
Under the microscope: Pyramid at Rings of Saturn.
